Bornholm’s dramatic history under one roof
At Bornholms Forsvarsmuseum in Rønne, you can explore the island’s dramatic past and discover stories from both Danish and international conflicts – from the Middle Ages to the Cold War. The museum features a large collection of military objects, uniforms, weapons and historical artefacts that provide insight into Bornholm’s unique role throughout history.
One of the museum’s most remarkable exhibits is an original German Enigma machine from World War II, known from films such as The Imitation Game. The machine was found on Bornholm after the war and is now part of the permanent exhibition.

In the museum’s outdoor area, both children and adults can explore old military vehicles and cannons up close. Many visitors also stop by the iconic Bofors anti-aircraft gun, which has become a favourite among history enthusiasts and families visiting the museum.
