    The Sallingsund Brigde

    0.36 km

The Sallingsund bridge was erected in 1978. The total cost of the bridge, incl. all it's connections at land was DKK 221 millions. This money has yielded the province a very long bridge. The bridge is 1.730 m long distributed among 17 sections at 93 m and two sections in each end at 51 m. The maximum height of the bridge in relation to the sound is 30.5 m, and where the bridge connects to land it's 25 m above water level. The bridge is 16 m wide with two sidewalks, two bike paths and two lanes. There's a sturdy railing on each side, that are partly sealed at specific heights because of the strong north western winds.

The vertical clearing for ships is 26 m between the 8th and 9th pillar, like the 9th and 10th, where the depth of water is 15 m. The amount of building material has been large. For the substructure alone was used 12.000 sq. m. of concrete, 1.700 tonnes of reinforcing and 900 tonnes of so called prestressed reinforcement. The Sallingsund bridge has been equipped with storm flaps in consideration of traffic safety - thereby obscuring the view when driving. Therefore, it's advised to park the car at the parking space in Legind Bjerge and walk out on the bridge.

Her royal highness queen Margrethe the 2nd opened the bridge for the public, Tuesday the 30th of May 1978.

Our Lady’s Church in Kapeldal - church ruin

    6.14 km

Our Lady’s Church in Kapeldal – A Forgotten Roadside Chapel in Scenic Surroundings
In the picturesque valley of Kapeldal west of Harre lie the remains of Our Lady’s Church – a medieval roadside chapel that once served travelers heading toward Sallingsund. The church was strategically located by a sunken road, shaped over centuries by cart wheels and rainwater, leading down to the Limfjord.

Described by local historian H.C. Strandgaard in 1868 and excavated by archaeologists in 1929, the Romanesque church consisted of a nave and chancel, built from granite and monk bricks, and measured 21 meters in length. Traces of a forecourt or graveyard suggest its role as a resting place for wayfarers.

After the road was rerouted, the church lost its significance and was eventually abandoned. Today, the site is cleared of vegetation, but all stone materials have disappeared – reused in local buildings in the early 1900s. A visit to Kapeldal offers a quiet journey into Salling’s medieval past and the stories etched into the landscape.

    Thyholm heritage museum

    22.34 km

Inside the main building, one can see how a well-off family lived in the last century. Additionally, there is a pharmacy, the old executive office of Hvidbjerg Bank, and the telephone exchange from Uglev. In the attic, visitors can experience the maternity ward of Hvidbjerg Hospital, which operated until around 1972.

In the farm building, there are exhibitions about crafts, such as lead roofing, shoemaking workshop, carpentry tools, ladies' hairdressing salon, etc. There is a diverse radio/TV exhibition showcasing the development in the field. Several models are already historical.

Adjacent to this, there is an exciting exhibition from Greenland with artifacts and paintings.

In 1997, a faithful replica of the old Søndbjerg school was inaugurated, housing a classroom.

Wilsehaven - inaugurated in 2013 - is a miniature version of J.N. Wilse's baroque garden at the rectory in Spydeberg, Norway. (J.N. Wilse (1736 - 1801) was the son of a pastor from Søndbjerg who went to Norway, where he served as a pastor, professor, and enlightenment figure).

It can be documented that the "Apothekergården" itself has historical value, as the main building can be traced back to at least 1664.

The "Apothekergården" was turned into a museum on the initiative of the painter Kresten Rusbjerg, who owned the place until 1990. He lived from the inauguration in 1992 until his death in 2010 in an annex built in connection with the museum.
