    The Building

There was a wish that the music theater was presentable and interesting to look at, but it should also work optimally as a theater building.

Several different architects were involved before reaching the final result. In 1989, the firm 3 x Nielsen conceived an extensive facade renovation, and in 2006 Kjær and Richter delivered the drawings, which radically changed the hall and incorporated Storå in the appearance of the house, where the foyer is set to become a link between the northern and southern part of the city.

The new building still contains parts from the Holstebro Hall from 1966, and unlike many other cultural buildings, the music theater was realized within the budget that was set.

    Gæstgivergården Phønix

    0.14 km

In 1904 the old inn in Holstebro was bought by Niels Chr. Breinholt and rebuilt into the building that stands there today. Now the Giestgivergaarden Phønix serves as a historic restaurant in the old Holstebro. In 1868, the inn, as a foundry for the foundry, opened, with a lot of thirsty foundry workers lying just across the street. Here you can enjoy a delicious dinner in the cozy old rooms with the same cozy atmosphere as back then.

    Holstebro Church

    0.34 km

Some of the inventory from the old church was reused in the new one, among which the rare and impressive Dutch Mary altarpiece from the beginning of the 15th century.

There are also several new items, such as "The Tree of Light" where people coming to the prayers can light a candle. Arne Haugen Sørensen's "The Trials of Abraham", and a crucifix by Niels Helledie.

The church has a Frobenius Organ from 1957/1982 of 45 stops and a carillon with 48 bells.

In the pavement east of the church's cross-arm, the "Old Church" memorial plaque marks the place where the medieval altar stood. The plate is of Swedish granite and made by Erik Heide in 2007.

    The Old Town Hall

    0.39 km

The Old Town Hall was built in 1846 after drawing of architect Nebelong. The stones from Nørre Vosborg Brickwork were sailed on horse-drawn barges up Storå. At the festive opening of the town hall a cannon was fired, but the unfortunate cannon exploded and the person responsible for the firing was killed.

The building served as a property and a detention house. The building was consecrated in 1960 and is together with the Toll House - Bomhuset - and Nyboes Gaard the only protected buildings in Holstebro town.

The decoration in the staircase was performed in 1957 by artist Albert Emiel - locally known as Albert Emil Christensen. The  Fresco paintings "Market Days in Holstebro" show scenes from life in Holstebro, where industry replaced agriculture as the main business.

On each side of the entrance door you will see the two memorial plates received by Holstebro in 1966 and 1980 when the city was designated City of the Year. In addition, a memorial plate from 2006, when Holstebro was voted Denmark's Best Trade City, and a memorial plate from the Danish Cultural Heritage Agency.

At the municipal assembly in 1970, the city council expanded from 15 to 21 members, and the number of seats in the City Hall was expanded. The city hall stands as when it was used until 1986, when the new town hall was taken into use.

During summer in week 27 - 32 there are tourist information at the Old City Hall. It is also from here that the free guided tours on Wednesday at 1 pm in July and August start.
