  In 2024, ‘The New Lake’ was recreated in Mols Bjerge, 105 metres above sea level, close to Agri and Agri Sø, which was previously known as Denmark's highest lake at 97 metres. The new lake, which has yet to be named, is around 1550 square metres in size and already attracts a rich flora and fauna.

  Agri Bavnehøj - a historically important site

  Historically, Agri Bavnehøj has had great importance. In the old days, bonfires were lit on the hill to warn against enemies and later it was used as a centre for surveying. At the top you'll find a monument with an arrow pointing to significant points on the horizon, such as Aarhus Cathedral 21.8 kilometres away. At the foot of Agri Bavnehøj there is also a covered picnic area, ideal for a break after a day in the beautiful nature of Mols Bjerge.

  Glass - Museum of Glass Art

  In Glas - Museum of Glass Art you can experience the latest development in modern glass art with regard to contemporary works as well as to ground-breaking and new, interesting trends.

  The Cosmic Space

  The Cosmic Space is a permanent installation. Here, you get to experience works by the Faroese painter and sculptor, Tróndur Patursson, who is an adventurer and an explorer, as well. Along with the British historian, Tim Severin, he was part of all of seven historical expeditions at sea.

  In 1993, the aim of the expedition was to sail from China to the US on a bamboo raft. The journey lasted 106 days, and during that time, the men were isolated from the world and surrounded by incredible forces of nature.

  Being far from everyone and everything and surrounded by the power of the sea inspired Tróndur Patursson to create The Cosmic Space at Glas - Museum of Glass, in which you get the sensation of stepping into a weightless room, the moment you set foot in the space.

  Experience the craftsmanship in the workshop

  In the beautiful garden you'll find the museum's glass workshop. Here you can experience the enchanting process from liquid glass to finished work as the museum's permanent glassblowers work to create beautiful products. Sometimes the workshop is the setting for collaborations and development projects with guest artists. During school holidays, there are often activities for the public.

  Living Craftsmanship

  The shipwrights keep the frigate shipshape using traditional maritime crafts like timber work, rope-making, and tar sealing. Visitors can watch the work up close and learn how a historic warship is kept seaworthy – even while docked.

  Facts About the Frigate

  The frigate Jylland is 102 metres long and 14 metres wide at deck level. Its masts rise more than 50 metres into the air, and the hull extends nearly 6 metres below the waterline. Today, the ship rests on land in a dry dock, allowing visitors to walk all the way around it and truly experience its impressive scale—both inside and out.

  Ebeltoft - Timber Frame Idyll and Cobble Stones

  An idyllic town

  Ebeltoft got its municipal charter in 1301 and thus is Djursland’s oldest market town. Sitting on a hill that slopes down to Ebeltoft Inlet, the town is full of atmosphere and very popular.
   
  You'll find lots of small shops with handicrafts, fashion, etc. as well as excellent restaurants. In summer, the streets are often full of music or other sorts of entertainment - also at night. The old small-town atmosphere of Ebeltoft reflects a piece of Denmark's history through the centuries.

  Throughout the whole year, visitors are invited to wander on their own along the cobbled Nørrebakke and Adelgade, which are business streets, as well as on Fedt Mikkels Gang by the chemist's shop, through Torvet (The Square) with the old City Hall, by Ebeltoft Church, and on Nedergade and Overgade, The surface of Overgade was laid with cut stones, whereas the rest of the street as well as the gutters were laid with of rounded natural stones. In times past, one of the town’s gates stood where Kurveleddet joins Overgade. At Strandvejen, you can still see the remains of the old tangdiger, walls of collected seaweed.

  Arriving at the end of the longest medieval road in Denmark, which was constructed at the same time as the castle Kalø Slotsruin, you can easily imagine the life that went on behind the castle walls.

  The ruins of Kalø Castle are one of the most striking historical attractions on the Danish east coast. The ruins are beautifully situated on a peninsula in Kalø Bay and can be reached via a 1.5 km-long cobbled medieval road.   The castle was built in the early 14th century by King Erik Menved and served as both a fortress and a symbol of power. Today, the ruins stand as an atmospheric testament to Denmark’s medieval past.

  The landscape in National Park Mols Bjerge has been shaped by gigantic tongues of ice and tons of water over millions of years. Here, you will encounter a unique and diverse nature with high peaks, deep glacial pits, and rare sand lizards, and around 40 out of 200 conservation-worthy Danish nature types called habitat areas. Many of the Bronze Age mounds that are scattered throughout the landscape remain untouched by archaeologists, so we do not know what lies within them.

  From Randers:
  Regional bus 212 to Ebeltoft. Get off in Øksenmølle, from where it is just under 5 km to Ree Park, or continue to Ebeltoft and change to bus 351 towards Grenaa, get off in Hyllested.
