Denmark's Only Viking Ship Burial
At the Viking Museum Ladby, you can step straight into history and experience Denmark's oldest royal grave. Here, an unknown king was laid to rest in his Viking ship more than 1,000 years ago – together with his horses, dogs, weapons, and valuable possessions. The impressive Ladby Ship is displayed as a burial chamber inside a reconstructed mound, exactly where it was discovered in 1935. It's an experience that gives you chills – and a unique insight into our shared past.
The museum and the surrounding area have recently gained renewed attention through TV2's drama series Danefæ (2025), where both the landscape and the story of Ladby play a central role.
A Pause by the Village Pond
As you cycle back toward the Manor Route, you can take a short break at the entrance to Vikingevej, where an idyllic village pond with ducks and green surroundings invites you to enjoy your packed lunch or a sip of water.
